Top 10 favourites of 2018.

2018 was one hell of a year. I travelled to a new country, started my blog, got the result I wanted, started university, made new friends, etc. So, in a nutshell, it’s been a good year and a ok year. All at the same time. But, I doubt anyone wants to hear any mushy stuff, nor am I going to write it.

For the longest time, I didn’t wear foundation. I downright despised it. I’ve always had this thing in the back of my head that was like I’m going to breakout whenever I apply foundation. Because of this very reason, I’ve never wanted to apply it. But, the thing is, when you remove it carefully it’s not going to break you out. So, back last year, I gifted my mom the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless. It turns out that as I bought it online, the shade I guessed for my mom was actually a shade darker for her, and she always wears her spot-on shade, which is something I do too. So, she wore it a few days back and told me that it looks darker on her and I should try it. I was kinda skeptical, because I didn’t want to look like a fool, but atleast I tried it. I’m so glad I did. As soon as I applied it, I literally fell in love with it. Not only was it the right formula, the right coverage, but it was exactly my shade! It wears beautifully, and its a medium buildable coverage and I’m obsessed with it. However, this does not mean I’m wearing a foundation everytime I do make-up. The shade is Montblanc and retails for 49.99$. (steep, I know)

Next is something which is probably the most unique jewellery item I own. I bought it from Istanbul back in January. The stone is called zultanite and it changes color, in every different light, literally. It goes purple pink in the sun, green is dim yellow lighting and peach is normal lighting, blueish-green-brown is some sorts of lighting, red in neon flourescent lighting and so on. It comes with earrings, necklace and a ring, it’s in silver. My dad gifted me this so listing the price seems weird. But, if you buy it from Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, you can get it around 30 – 50$. Mine was a bit more expensive because I bought it from a shop but my mom liked the making so we just bought it. Although, she got hers from Grand Bazaar a day before.

When I heard Balmain were doing a collaboration with Loreal, I absolutely panicked and wanted to pick up everything. The packaging seemed amazing and even the ad campaign was very runway-esque. So, when I went to UK, for my cousin’s wedding, I picked up the Loreal x Balmain lipstick in Fever. It has a emerald green component and the packaging looks expensive. The color is sort of a burnt orange while also, being somewhat terracotta. It’s beautiful. I wanted to buy more shades, but I’m glad I didn’t. Not because I didn’t like it, but when you’ve got the same thing in excess, it sort of loses value. I good it from Boots for 13.99£

Next are my books, I didn’t read for the majority of 2018, and I didn’t start until the last week of November. I started with the Red Queen series which I’ve had since 2015, but I never actually read it. So I finished the Red Queen series and now, I’m on the last book in the Fallen series by Lauren Kate. So, in total I’ve read 6 books in the last month. I couldn’t be more proud of myself. The next book I’m going to read is the Shatter Me series by Tahera Mafi. I’m so excited! I’ve also ordered six more books from Readings just because I’m going to read so much in 2019, I hope so. Fingers crossed.

I got my first Kat Von D lipstick last year from Saudia Arabia but I never used it as much as I do now. The shade I got was Lolita and it works with every single look. It’s a nude brown pink and I have no idea how to describe it but I love it. The only thing is that it doesn’t wear as well as I want it to, which is a bummer. But, I still love the shade and every drawn the gothic-y packaging. I got it from Sephora for 100SAR, which is approximately 26$.

Jeffree Star skin frost highlighter. Let me tell you, you don’t know what you’re missing if you don’t have a JSC highlighter. It’s absolute magic. And, hands down, the best highlighter. It has a huuuge pan that comes with a huge mirror and you can see the glow from Mars. Not kidding. It wears beautifully and you need to get one if you still don’t have one. I know he’s a controversial person, but all things aside, he makes the best highlighters. Although the shade I got, so fucking gold is way too dark for me, but I make it work because I love it and I couldn’t get the lighter shade because it was sold out. I got it for 4600RS, when I ordered it from a page on Facebook. (Don’t worry, it’s real, I checked) but on the JSC website it retails for 25$.

SHAWN MENDES FRAGRANCE. I could literally go on and on and on about this. Well, besides that it’s made by someone who I absolutely love, it also smells pretty damn good. The smell is kinda floral but also woodsy ish at the same time. I’m no expert on the top and bottom notes stuff, but it wears off extremely good. I wore it on my birthday for the first time. Which is also, not to brag but brag, his birthday also. It wore pretty good and I love it. I ordered it from Boots, and 100ml was for 41£, which I got. Also, my dad gifted me this, and I absolutely freaked out when I saw it and was completely floored. It was magic, ok?

The Sleek highlighter palette in Solstice. I also have the Cleopetra’s Kiss which is very good and gold, but I love the Solstice one a tiny bit more. It has four shades, one creme and three powders, including a purple highlight. Which is pretty cool, btw. It goes on extremely blinding and I can’t say enough about it. I got it from Boots Cardiff for 9.99£.

Morphe x Kathleen Lights palette. I love Kathleen and I also own the color pop collab that she has, although I wanted to pick up Dream Street and the Zodiac palette but I was too broke. And in all honesty, did not need more eyeshadow. I took it to UK with me and used it on my cousin’s wedding day and the function the next day. Sort of holds a special place, I guess. The colors are beautiful and blend beautifully, definitely my most used palette and a favorite of mine. 15$ but I got it for 3000RS / 24$.

Rings. I’ve lately been wearing rings and I’m totally obsessed with them. I don’t leave the house until I have rings on, it’s become a huge addiction. I think they’re a part of who I am now. I own many and I’ve just organized them in my drawer and I could be more proud of myself. I think I’ve collected more than 20 rings in the past four months or maybe five. I have a preference for silver rings because they look more unique to me and in general, more appealing.

It’s been a good year and I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned to put myself first because no ones going to do that for me and stand up for myself in situations where I need to. Let go of something or someone because they’re not right me for me. 2019, please be good. Happy new year!

PS: thank you so much for all the love on my last post and check out my instagram for more stuff! @opaqueblues

How I grew six inches on my hair.

My hair was always naturally straight and very thick. But by the time I went through that phase when everyone stops giving a shit, yeah, I stopped giving a shit for my hair. That, in return caused extreme hairfall and the start of the worst thing anyone can experience; dandruff.

My once thick ponytail got thiner and thiner until I really got alarmed. My hair would come out whenever I would touch it, boom, gone. It was horrible, honestly. I started to realise that I was infact, so lazy that I didn’t rinse the shampoo out of my hair properly. That caused all the chemicals to stay inside my scalp and damge it slowly.

I started to grow more vary of my hair and then, I fully decided to take care of it. I vowed myself that I would oil my hair before every wash and limit my hair straightening routine. I didn’t straighten my hair for 10months until I started doing it for special occasions. But, that you can get away with. However, I feel like because of the winters now, i’m way too lazy and cold to let my hair air-day, but I blowdry on a minimal heat level.

Then, came the hair dye. I ombré-d my hair two years back and it really damaged my ends. However, slowly i’m going to cut it off. Until then, I have to deal with the ends and wait a bit more to have a haircut.

I had my hair cut to shoulder length last december which makes it exactly 11 months since I last cut it. Until now, i’ve grown about 4 1/2 to 5 inches on my hair. It’s been amazing honestly. I oiled my hair before every wash, religiously. I’ve used many hair oils and creams to revive some life back into them. I didn’t use a straightener all summer and spring (except sometimes, ofcourse), and I truly believe that’s what aided my hair growth.

I use Vatika’s Coconut oil because it has Castor Oil and Henna, which helps grow hair, volume and ensures smoothness. I feel like it’s amazing and I swear by it. Also, Pomace Olive oil is another excellent option, which I’m currently using these days. I also use the new Garnier shampoo, The Ultimate Blends Detox Shampoo. It’s for normal hair, has no silicones and smells of gree tea and other herbal plants. It leaves the hair really clean and ugh, I absolutely love the smell on it.

After I blowdry, I use the Herbal Essences MorrocanMe Miracle Oil. It has Argan and Moroccan oil with nourishes and restores the moisture in your hair. It again, smells amazing and makes your hair super soft. I use 1-2 pumps and it’s the ends not the roots. However, I do like to massage the roots with the reminding product.

After I’ve done my blow dry and some straightening, I use the L’Orèal Elvive Extraordinary Oil, it’s basically a cream for your hair. It’s specifically for dry hair but I usually use that on my ends also. It helps to straighten the hair for however long it lasts. My hair does not get frizzy when I use this.

Vatika Coconut Oil 225 RS / 1.75 US$

Garnier Shampoo: The Ultimate Blend Detox Shampoo 450 RS / 5.50 US$

Herbal Essences MoroccanMe Oil 500 RS / 4.75 US$

L’orèal Elvive Extraordinary Hair Creme 699 RS / 5.99 US$

PS: Looking back, I think my hair’s grown six inches… Yeah, six inches it is. Also my hair now is wavy, if you’re wondering.

Self love: what we often forget.

In our everyday lives, we often forget about ourselves. Exams, work or any other commitment— we tend to neglect ourselves. We pressurise ourselves to the point where we become a machine, exhausted and tired of anyone and everything around us. I totally get the feeling. I have my last exam on Thursday and, honestly I’m counting down the days.

Days when i’ll chill around all day and enjoy my winter vacations. But even that thought scares me, the constant reminder that I have to study, have to do that assignment or doing anything that could stress me out. (Not just studies, lol) It’s not wrong to feel like you have to do something, but, having that feeling all the time isn’t exactly okay.

We need to let ourselves go sometimes. Self love isn’t always spending on yourself or having a day out. But if that’s what makes you happy, totally, go for it. Sometimes we just need to have a day off, for ourselves. Not because it’s relaxing, but we’re human and we need to relax once a while. Drink some coffee, read that book that you bought two months ago but never got the chance to read, spend time with your family, talk to friends. Do what makes you feel peaceful and relaxed.

Taking care of yourself should be your priority, no one else is going to do it for you. Always remember to take out some time for yourself, even if it’s just an hour. Distance yourself from things that stress you out. Stop eating chocolate daily because it breaks you out, and then later, you’ll feel horrible. Stop talking to toxic friends, they’ll only make you feel horrible about yourself.

Surround yourself with good energy and good people. Give love, be kind. Whatever you put out in the world is what comes back to you. Karma is a thing. It’s very real.

Sorry if this was short, but I have an exam on Thursday and currently having a panic attack about it. 🙂

Winters outfits—hit or miss?

Winters are probably the most fun you can have dressing up and styling outfits. But, when it comes to someone like me, who literally freezes in 18C, it’s extremely difficult. However, I do enjoy autumn and it’s one of my favourite months. I don’t really like winters or summers, I prefer the weather where you wear a light jacket and you’re good.

I don’t want to sweat my ass off and freeze until my fingers are blue. Nope, I don’t do extreme weather. Funny story, I actually had blue fingers when I was in Istanbul in January, it was legit freezing. I have no idea how I survived the cold but, i’m the shit.

I bought nearly 90% of my winter clothes from UK, when I was visting last year. I’m glad about that. I bought this wannabe icy but sort of, ultra marine blue velvet sweater from Primark. It’s so soft and cuddly it’s insane. It’s also oversized which makes it even better. It’s actually Cardiff wind approved because it makes you insanely hot. So, if it’s really cold you can just wear a jacket and you’re good to go.

Velvet sweaters are warm but also looks absolutely divine. The color shifts make them so unique and eye-catching. I bought it for 5£ / 745 RS, on sale and the next day it was for 3£. *extreme face palm*

My go-to black Old Navy jeans which I wear everyday and are my absolute necessity. I can’t do anything without them, and obviously, black is such a staple. You can’t go wrong when you’re black. I wore my Adidas Superstars in white, which are the most basic bitch shoe ever and everyone who’s eveyone has them. But, they’re cute so it’s good. Also, planning to get white trainers but i’m not sure which one. Can you tell i’m a huge sneaker fan? I don’t wear anything unless it’s a sneaker or a heel. There’s simply no in between.

I wore my I am jewellery necklace which I never get a chance to wear because I can never match it, so I paired it with this look. For my makeup, I didn’t do anything except my mascara and lipstick. Mascara is L’orèal Lash Paradise 2000 RS / 19 US$ (I know it’s not that expensive, but the taxes in Pakistan make it stupid expensive) & lipstick by Glam Girl in Metamorphosis 270 RS / 1.75 US $. It’s extremely affordable and very long lasting so I’d recommend checking it out.

Really inspired by @ohareeba on instagram, so I busted my clear neon transparent bag from the archive. It’s a neon green that I picked up from Tally Weijl in 2014. It has a really heavy metal chain which is cool and adds character. Retails for 20€ / 2700 RS.

CD- Guns n Roses Appetite For Destruction. (I feel this need to sing, ‘he loves guns n roses, guuuuns and roooooses’, but I have no one to sing that for, so i’ll let it slide. Also, if you know the song reference, you’re the shit.

I kept my wallet, phone, headphones, medicine and a small mirror in my bag, just in case. Also, my lipstick because you never know when you want to re-apply. I went shopping later on and got some amazing new pens and sticky notes from Miniso. So obsessed with their stationery, it’s cute but it also works. Win-win situation.

PS: i hope this didn’t suck. but tell me if it did, i’m ok with it, honestly.

Am I in the wrong era?

Sometimes I think to myself, I’m in the wrong era. My fascination with old things and vintage fashion has always been there, however, there are certain times where it grows even more. Whenever I watch an old movie, listen to old music or jut think about the old times— I somehow get this euphoric sensation. I like to think I’m a old soul that’s trapped in 2018.

While I love cellphones and technology, I also crave for a time without them. The feeling of getting a letter from another continent, or maybe just another country is extremely satisfying for me. The handwritten sentiment means the world to me instead of a 500 word long text. Not every one can convey their emotions as they like, but the effort is what matters. Whenever I read history books, I feel a strange sort of empathy even though I was never a part of it. There has always been this desire for more than what was written in the history books.

I remember this one time when I went to Potsdam and visited the Sanssouci Palace (French for no worries), I felt peace. Roaming through the mesmerizing gardens looking through the perfectly sculpted statues, the architecture, it was truly my favorite. The smell of royal betrayal and gloominess was buried deep in the Palace walls. The story of Frederick the Great possibly being gay and his escape from the palace is truly fascinating. The guide told us that he had escaped with his lover who was possibly a kitchen boy, making their way to London. However, the King set his guards behind them and they managed to find them before they left Prussia, now Germany. I don’t know if it’s true or a rumor but the King actually locked Frederick into a tower and kept his lover in the opposite tower, he ordered his death and poor Frederick watched his lover die in front of him.

This story somehow gives me the chills. But, the experience was absolutely amazing and I’d definitely go back and do it all again. It’s the same with me and music. In my opinion, music was definitely way better. I mean, everyone should know at this point. Music today is just remixed and auto tuned shit. We rarely get real instruments playing in the background and only a handful of artists whose real vocals we’re familiar with. I’m not implying every artist does that but the majority do. We don’t have artists like Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Bryan Adams, Stevie Wonder anymore. I hope to God we do, for the future of music.

We don’t have artistic bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Queen anymore. Everyone seems to rip off each other or old music. The classic riffs made in the 70’s still shake my soul— and I’m not even from the 70’s. Maybe this is my Dad’s influence, but I’m eternally grateful for it. The essence in music back in the day was utterly magical, everyone was gifted and they crafted their skill accordingly. And, honestly can someone tell me the thrill in techno music? I’m sorry if I offend someone but it’s technically not even music. It’s just a bunch of machines playing together to make horrible sound. Yes, they may sound good four times but this isn’t the music you’ll be listening four years from now.

If you wanna listen to pure guitar, listen to Jimmy Page in No Quarter by Led Zeppelin; you’ll never be the same. Or yet, just listen to Hendrix. Now, that’s music. But still, you’ve got your own preferences and I’ll respect that.

I feel like even my fashion choices are somewhat inspired by all over the decades. 50’s is extremely minimalist and 70’s with rock and roll with a hint of ‘I don’t give a shit’—me making fashion choices. It’s crazy how much other things influence our being and by the time you know it, you’re consumed by it. Recently, I’m collecting CD’s. My dad has a huge collection of CD’s, Vinyls, Cassettes you name it. There probably isn’t one artist that he isn’t familiar with. I’ve got many of my favorites from his collection, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, U2, Justin Timberlake, among others. My dad was adamant I wouldn’t take his Led Zeppelin CD’s but, I still did because they’re my favorite band, ever. I still bug my dad all the time to tell me about his time growing up because he grew up in probably the most artistic era ever. I’m pretty sure he secretly enjoys telling me all about it just as much as I love listening to it.

The CD’s in the picture are;

Led Zeppelin: Latter Days Greatest Hits Vol2

Nirvana MTV Unplugged

Queen Greatest Hits

Nirvana Nevermind

I’ve been so busy studying these past weeks and hence couldn’t blog consistently, but I guess it’s just gonna get busier from here. I have my mocks in December, which I’m absolutely dreading. I mean, it’s a lot. Slowly but surely it’s gonna work out, I hope so.

PS: I WATCHED BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT AND I WANNA WATCH IT AGAIN!! ❤ Rami did a magnificent job as Freddie and i’m sure he’s looking down and slow clapping in utter happiness. I also cried at the ‘We Are The Champions’ closing performance. It was such an amazing movie, a must watch if you’re a fan of Queen. (I’m sorta sad that Under Pressure didn’t have a full stage time tho </3)

Are mukbangs really fun?

Mukbangs are when you eat infront of a camera while talking and that’s what people find fun to watch. Well, that’s my knowledge on what a Mukbang is. I wasn’t eating infront of a camera nor was I alone.

I had the most fun sleepover with my cousin and it was a total blast. Like those sleepovers which you plan and they go accordingly, to the best of it’s extent. Yeah, it was insanely fun. We were watching the Jeffree Star and Trisha Paytas’ Mukbang, while my cousin goes, “Let’s just order McDonalds,” and I look at her with utter excitement and a nod of approval. Because in that moment, I was thinking the exact thing.

Called McDonalds and ordered two boxes of Spicy Chicken with large cokes and large fries. Talk about eating unhealthy. We devoured our chicken while gossiping about spicy stuff and reminiscing about the good old days. We talked about how great One Direction used to be and how we stayed up fangirling and listening to their albums’ all night. We played old songs that we’d listen to and shout out each and every single lyric.

It’s so fun when you have someone you can talk to about whatever and just chill. That’s exactly what we did. We jammed out to music and ate our delicious food side by side. This for me, was so much more fun that watching another person eat.

Actually funny story, I applied the Huda Beauty liquid lipstick in Medusa, and the delivery guy thought I was some sort of psycho. It’s so much fun when you wear a gothic color in public and everyone just stares at how crazy you look. I actually feel so cool whenever I wear weird and obnoxious colors. I feel like a bad bitch and no one should talk to me, I’m telling you there’s something about it that makes me feel like a dangerous womaaan. Woah, Ariana reference.

Let’s just pretend I’m an emo jamming out to Guns N Roses and I’m a skater girl who wears black clothes all year. Can I be that cool? If you’re an emo, can we be friends?

Also, holyshit.. I should spend a day as a Goth. Like, the full experience. THAT WOULD BE SO MUCH FUN! Hit me up, if you know how to do that.

So, going back; Although we didn’t order much, mukbangs are extremely fun. You should definitely do one with someone whose company you enjoy. Here’s to many more mukbangs.

My one hour speed shopping & Friday’s music.

I actually had little to no intention of buying all the stuff that I bought. It’s completely unwarranted for and, what the hell am I going to do with this much stuff. Honestly, sometimes I think I shouldn’t buy this much, because it isn’t nice to do so. However, I’m all heart eyes when I see something I like. So, am I really to blame? It’s all impulses I tell you.

I dragged my Mom with me to the mall so I could check out Body Shop’s winter sale. I swear I couldn’t find anything, and trust me when I tell you this, I can find gems from a trash can. But I guess that’s what was left in that sale and I did go the last day so I can’t really be mad. We walked on over to Accessorize and I thought, ‘I won’t buy anything but there’s no harm in looking. Boy, was I wrong. There were a couple of things that caught my eye and I managed to buy two.

The rose gold necklace is a layered one and sort of reminds me of the one my aunt wears, in the best way possible. I was looking for something simple but which was still my style. I feel like like hoops are such a statement that you can’t actually go wrong with it. Its very mid 2000’s but are still very chic. These ones are kind of twisted and are silver.

We then roamed around a few more clothes shops, because I had to get my Halloween outfit. Sadly, there is no formal Halloween celebration in Pakistan, but I wish there was. SO this year, I decided to throw a Halloween party of my own. Me, my friends, cousins, it’s going to be a blast, I hope. But, I couldn’t find the shirt I wanted anywhere so I decided to get it made. I’m so exited for the party and dress up as someone I love, it’s also sort of sad because I’ll have to tell everywhere who I am, maybe some will know who knows. I hope someone knows.

My mom was tired and she wanted to go home but I was out of mascara so I took her to Hyperstar. Which, is the worst place you can go if you’re just window shopping. You can never leave empty handed out of that place. I ended up buying the L’Oreal Lash Paradise Exactic. I’ve heard so many great things and I was willing to give it a chance. So, hear me out, I was leaving the L’Oreal counter when this really pretty nude lipstick caught my eye, the packaging was red marble and it was ugh, so cute. It is, 630 Beige A Nu, which is I’m guessing french because it has ‘Cannes’ written over the tube. Both were for 1999RS / 17 US$.

Once again, I was leaving. But I decided to throw in the Garnier Hydra Bomb masks. Let me tell you, if you’re a budget queen like me, you’ll love these. I got one in the super hydrating and replenishing with pomegranate extract. I’ve tried this twice now and I can really see a difference. And, in my defense I needed skin care because my skin is super shitty these days. I also got the under eye Hydra Bomb, because of university, i’ve got a shit ton to do and that messes with my sleep sometimes. It’s has orange juice and hyaluronic acid which makes your skin plump and if I’m not wrong, defies ageing too.

Also, picked up the L’oreal Hydra fresh anti shine cream. Winters. It has an icy gel texture and it purifies and mattifies. I don’t need much mattifying because my skin is normal, but I do get oily at the end of the day. It is the deep clean source water, and it just sounds right up my skin care alley.

Then we just went to check out and called it a night. Trust me when I say it was late. I managed this all in an hour if I’m going to be precise, this is my one hour speed shopping.

I’m currently listening to Khalid’s new EP Suncity, for literally the thousandth time. It’s so good, it’s pure RnB except for a song or two. I mean, this EP is pure magic. Every song is soulful and filled with the utmost emotion. Khalid’s motion and vocals are so much more clear and filled compared to the American Teen album. This is truly the start of an era, and I truly wish it was a full length album, because it deserves all the love. My favourites were: Vertigo, Motion, and everything else. Give it a listen, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Khalid Suncity

What I bought after shopping for 13 hours.

After a crazy weekend in Lahore, I’m finally home and after all the Monday drama, I’m free to write about my weekend fiasco. Before I start, Lahore, you were absolutely amazing and I love you so much.

So, I didn’t actually shop for 13 hours in a stretch, while that could be something I’d be eager to experience. I shopped for 3 hours on Friday and 10 ish hours on Saturday. For my shopping, I went to Packages Mall, which I had never been to. Because this dummy went to Lahore after two years. I have no idea how it has been that long but, yeah it has been. If you haven’t been to Packages as of yet, you need to go there ASAP.

So on Friday night, I went to Packages at like 9pm. I spent the day writing the previous blog, for that: thank you for reading. ❤ And mainly spent time lounging and relaxing in gymkhana. The first shop we rushed into was Miniso. I feel like it’s a new hip thing to do and whenever you go into shop you always have to buy something. It’s like an impulse, put that in, ooh I like that, that’s cute— sort of thing. I ended up spending 2500 RS / 23 US$.

I bought an Aloe Vera moisture toner, which aloe is great for your skin. If you’re skin is burnt due to, sunburn or excessive use of exfoliation— this is the thing for you. Being the dummy that I am, I used an exfoliated twice in a row and that resulted in me having the most worst skin time of my life. I’ve never had skin problems thank God. But, that shit truly gave me a heart attack. I couldn’t even wash my face without it stinging like hell. So I ordered the CoNatural Aloe Healing Gel, and let me tell you this, it is magic. It fixed my skin in like 3 days of consistent use. So, I wanted to give the Aloe toner a chance.

Olive Oil for Hyderation and Moisture. I don’t exactly know if you’re supposed to put it on your face but I put it on my face. My checks get very dry in winters but stays normal throughout the year. I use it for my hands and on my face. Also got cotton squares for these, they were also super inexpensive.

A hair drying towel and a satin shower cap. Because you don’t wash your hair everyday, that’s just wrong. If you do, please don’t, you’re slowly killing and damaging it. Hair care is extremely essential and it’s something so many people sleep on. I’ll definitely do a hair routine, because there is one I follow religiously.

Daisy moisturizing facial spray and a rose spray along with the Hydrolat Orange Blossom sheet masks. I’ve used the sheet masks before and I honestly love them! They work great and you get three for 250RS / 1.50US$. It’s a steal at that price.

Next shop I went to was Inglot. I actually forced my mom to go with me because I wanted to see the Jennifer Lopez collection. I’ve seen pictures from her shoot and, I’m just floored every time I see JLo. Like, how is she 48 and still flawless? Honestly, God I see what you do for other people. Is watched the highlighters and the red and the nude lipstick. I loved the highlight so much that I ended buying it, oops. I bought the J201 in Radiate. It was the one that went perfectly with my skin tone and it’s so glittery I love it so much. I somehow convinced my Mom to split the money with me for it and she agreed! So yeah, we ended up splitting the money and I got it for 2450 RS / 22.50 US$. Spoiler: it’s absolutely blinding. Also, wore it for 8hours+ on the next day.

Woke up at 12, slept at 2am. Good morning. The grind starts again, by that I mean more shopping, hahaha. Went to Emporium this time. I like the overall vibe but I definitely prefer Packages to it. I went to Nishat and liked a couple of shirts but didn’t end up buying it. I feel like Nishat used to be so good 3 years ago that I only used to buy clothes from there, but lately it’s like… meh. Trying to stay relevant. There are some nice pieces which I really like but, the majority isn’t the greatest. I hope they’d hire a new designer and shit.

Went to Khaadi and saw this absolutely gorgeous white linen shirt. The fabric was really one of a kind, the design was nice and of course, the stitching. It was only 2000 RS / 18 US$ and I was sold that very moment. I tried it on and it looked equally as nice so I got it. If you see this in stores, give it a try and buy it if you want to!

Also, got a blue night suit from Diner’s, which was eventually too stiff for and I ended up giving that to my mom. I really love my unimpressive night clothes. What can I say, comfort over style when you’re sleeping is my rule 101.

Rushed to Packages to go to Accessorize, I was so disappointed like…?? Why even bother? They had a 50% sale which was literally on like 2racks. The most weird looking bag packs and weird jewelry.. why? I rushed out just like I rushed in, in a blink of an eye. After dinner, we went to Hyperstar.

Mind you at this point, it’s already like 7 hours spent in malls, and we’re walking into another.

11:30— Got a red storage box for storing extra stuff or my extra makeup that doesn’t fit into my drawer.. I should hoard less… Also got a pack of three red facial towers because I love to take care of my skin. I’m negligent at most times but once a week, I really treat myself to it. Got a California Republic navy hoodie which I really like and it’s really warm too, also wearing it in the picture! All of this stuff was under 1500RS / 13 US$, maybe even less.

Got up at 8 had had like 7 pancakes drenched in pancake syrup. So like before you judge me, they were small sized and around the size of your palm probably. And, we’ve all been there before. Rushed to Readings at 10 because it’s tradition to go to Lahore and go buy books. I’ve been reading a lot of poetry lately and I want to get back to the stories. I was exited to go and as usual, spent a lot of time deciding what I want because I’m truly over the romance stuff, unless it’s real good ofcourse. So if you’ve got murder mystery suggestions or like other unique genres, tell me.

I got Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco. It really caught my eye and I’ve started reading it, it’s quite different and a good mystery so far.

Shatter Me by Tahera Mafi, because my friend told me about it like three years ago and I could never find it in stores anywhere. I remember she used to speak so highly of it, so when I saw it, I immediately put it in.

Cleopatra by Stacy Schiff, I was actually leaving for checkout but came across the history section. If you know me, you know I’m a history freak, I find that stuff extremely interesting and I really wish I was born in the 16th century. Hmm, if only.

Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth. The story from the back seemed extremely interesting and I was very intrigued to buy it. Also she wrote Divergent, which was an absolute hit and I remember everyone reading that back in 2013.

That sums up my weekend in Lahore, and again thank you so much for reading I hope you all like the stuff I write about. And, of course if you want to critique me on something, or tell me what to blog about, I’d be more than happy to listen to it. Once again, thank you for reading and supporting me. ❤

Whats in my travel bag + My current travel playlist.

Traveling is arguably the most beautiful thing ever. You get to see new places, eat different sorts of food, meet new people— and the overall experience is magic. Whether you’re traveling international or in your domestic country, it never gets old. One of my favorite places to visit in Pakistan, is Lahore. There’s something about the air in Lahore that is so rich in culture and heritage that you can’t get away from it. It pulls you towards itself and makes you fall in love all over again. If you’re a Pakistani who still hasn’t seen Lahore, first of all, who are you? And second, you haven’t lived until you’ve seen Lahore. I could go on and on about Lahore but let’s talk about what the blog is about.

Currently drinking my Schweppes tonic water, which is bitter in it’s aftertaste but like sparking water at first. I packed my small black Accessorize bag which my friend gave to me for my 17th birthday, and the size is perfect for traveling domestically or even internationally. I had my ‘the sun and her flowers’ book by Rupi Kaur.. I’ll just do a review on that later. Having a book when you travel is an essential of mine. I can get bored easily and I’m the type of person that always wants to do something even if I’m exhausted as hell. My blue glittery notebook from Accessorize which I got from Safa Gold a while back for 1700RS / 15US$. It doesn’t have lines which is pretty cool because I can draw some ideas or cross out things I’ve done.

Having a diary is also a must because, I feel like when I don’t have a diary on me, I’m losing my thoughts and I don’t want to lose them. There’s something about writing your thoughts with a pen that makes me feel safe and calm at the same time. However, this isn’t the diary that I write my secrets in, that one is my prized possession and no ones going to read it anytime soon.

Wallet, because you definitely can’t travel without it. It not only has your ID and other cards but also money. And, you need money, doesn’t matter if you’re a celebrity or a normal person, you need money to survive. Also, there’s something about leather that I’ve always been attracted to, be it jackets or wallets; I absolutely love leather. The wallet it from Jafferjee’s and I got it from the Giga outlet. It has my initials “MAQ” on the front and it was an 18th birthday present from my Mom. It was for 2400RS / 22US$. Funny story, my best friend also gave me the same wallet as a birthday present this year, but I’ve saved it for when this one gets ruined. Which could take a while, but I’m glad I have a backup leather wallet.

I’m not high maintenance. Or, I guess I’m not. I tried the Rose water hydrating spray from Miniso and got it for 350RS / 2.50 US$. It’s actually really refreshing when used frequently and also rose water is good for your skin. The mist isn’t great, I’ll say that. But, if you want baby soft skin like you had when you didn’t hit puberty, get it this.

I feel like a lot of these things are presents but, hey, I like the things people give me. Also, when someone gives you something out of love, you got to use it. It’s a token of their love for you. My hands get extremely dry through out the year and I have to use lotions for my hands all year round. My go is Nivea body lotion, but it’s too big for traveling. The large bottle is for 575RS / 4.75US$, and are easily available in practically any drugstore. I don’t know if they make a travel size, if someone knows that, please tell! But I have the Bath and Body Works Mad For You mini lotion; which is perfect for traveling. It smells incredible and has shea butter and vitamin E in it. It definitely smooths out my crusty dusty hands. HAHAH, probably aren’t that bad.. or are they?

Sunglasses. These are a must even if you’re just going out of the house. They protect your eyes from harmful UV rays and stops the nasty aging spots and hence, no wrinkles. I mean, I definitely do not want that. Look at JLo, she has the biggest sunglasses ever, and is practically perfect. Take notes. The sunglasses are Police, and I don’t remember the price, there quite old.

A makeup bag by body shop that is actually my mom’s but, I stole it from her. Hahah, she knows so it’s not really stealing. It has all my makeup products that I love and I know that work. They’re limited and I love to travel light, because I always want to buy stuff from the place I visit. Whether it’s Lahore or London, this rule does not change.

My jewelry box which is the utmost precious thing that I own. Let me know if you’d like a post on my go to silver and gold toned jewelry. The box has two compartments and a small mirror which is actually pretty handy. I got the box from Islamabad’s Sunday bazaar. It was I don’t know, like 150RS / 1US$, which is like nothing. And it works pretty well, holds a lot of small stuff and is very small itself, so you can just throw it in your bag.

My iPad of course, so I can watch YouTube. Currently watching the Jake Paul series made my Shane Dawson, which is literally a roller coaster. If you haven’t watched it yet, I highly recommend watching it. And, the charging cable if my phone or iPad are low on battery.

Headphones; because music is everything and I have to listen to it in the car. My current playlist is:

Without Me Halsey This is such a heartfelt song by Halsey and incredibly catchy.

Stairway To Heaven Led Zeppelin This is such a cult classic song and can never get old. Led Zeppelin is definitely the jewels of Rock and I’m utterly obsessed with them. Jimmy Page’s guitar skills blow me away every single time I listen to this piece of art. What a masterpiece. ❤

Under Pressure Shawn Mendes ft Teddy (Queen cover) This.. is probably one of the best Shawn songs to have released. If you’re a fan of Queen or old school Rock bands, you need to give it a listen. It’s a Queen cover for their new movie and will be featured in it. I’M SO EXITED! As I played the song, 2 seconds in and I was already obsessed. This is an incredibly difficult song to cover, and Shawn literally tried his best, the falsettos are beautiful and the flow is incredibly smooth. Seeing the vocal changes in his voice from the last two years, it’s so amazing to see that he’s only aiming for the top. I’m so proud of him. :’) Freddie Mercury would be proud, RIP.

Japanese Denim Daniel Ceaser If you’re still not listening to Daniel Ceaser… why? If you’re a RnB fan, you’ll love this. He truly has the voice of an angel.

Hotel California (Live) Eagles This is the song of my childhood, literally. Give it a listen, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Idontwannabeyouanymore Billie Eilish This has such a strong message, and it’s written by a 16 year old. What was I doing when I was 16? Probably moping around the house.

Bad Reputation MTV Unplugged Shawn Mendes This is the one of THE best Shawn Mendes songs. Literally top 10. Don’t even try to argue with me on this, because nothing can change my mind on this. Even my Dad likes it!

Kamikaze (Album) by Eminem. Can’t stop listening to it. Also, the people who think Revival sucked, you need half a brain to understand the meaning behind that album. But give it a listen if you haven’t already. If you have, can we be best friends? I listened to it the day it released, just clarifying before someone labels me as a ‘fake fan’, man I hate when people do that.

I’m pretty sure I’ll do a playlist to my life sort of blog. Where I’ll explain in detail what the song is, why I like it, and what memories I have linked to them. Those are my favorite to watch and I haven’t come across that in a written form, so I’d love to do that. Let me know!

PS: I slept halfway so… don’t blame me, I woke up at 6am for this.

Thank you so much for the love on the blogs, reading and just supporting me. Even if you’re hating on me, I guess, thanks? ❤

How I style my clothes.

If I have a rule, no. 1 is black jeans. I literally own eleven pairs, and wear them everyday. They’re plain and they go with literally everything. If some people are wondering to wash their jeans or not, the answer is— WASH IT! Not only is it hygienic but it also keeps it in shape. I have absolutely no idea how some people don’t was their jeans.. ew.

Also, I like to wear solid colors or keep it monochrome; but sadly I can almost never get anything nice in that catagory. I definitely have some pieces I love, but majority are just items I like otherwise. The thing about monochromes is that they can be paired with anything. If you want to keep it simple, or add pops of color. But, personally, I don’t add color with monochromes.

Next thing is accessories. Which is by far, my favourite. I love to wear watches and have a collection, if I say so myself. I love to wear rings, and when I forget to do so, I feel as if my fingers are naked. It’s a really weird feeling actually.

Pairing. This is probably my favourite thing to do with accessories. I’ll look for a base color, if silver or golden goes better with the shirt/dress I’m about to wear. When I’m done with that, I look for either Silver/Golden necklaces, and wear atleast two. It looks sort of put together and cute. I actually took inspiration from Hailey Baldwin in this department.

For shoes, I usually wear sneakers. They’re less maintenance, last longer, and are comfortable. My go to sneakers have to be my Puma suedes. I love them so much it’s insane. They go really well with golden-warm toned clothes and have a very chic look to them. Kudos to Puma.

These things are usually what I look for and pair together. It might look like much but, put together, it’s sort of effortless. That’s the key actually.

For this picture I’m wearing a Sapphire shirt which you can tie from the sides. I like the cut, it’s very different from other places. The print is floral but I don’t mind it because it’s on the sides and plain in the centre. The jeans are from Old Navy, and they need to sponsor me because, God knows how many pairs I’ve bought from them. They make the best black jeans ever, period. A white Fossil watch with two silver rings that my Mom got for me a long time ago, and my seven year old necklace from Clarks— as my accessories.

Nothing really going on in this picture, but I may do a fashion blog in the future. Hopefully.

Thankyou so much for reading and supporting!! ❤️
